Before selecting a prepaid cell phone service, you have to do quite a bit of research of course. Looking at coverage and pricing as compared to your usage are the two most critical things. I've tried to summarize the basic costs on a page I put together on the topic of prepaid cell phones to help in making those comparisons. However, the numbers certainly don't tell the entire story.
As a consumer myself, I'm always concerned with how happy I'll be with the service. Will service be reliable? How about the phone itself? Will the company be responsive if I have questions or need help? Am I billed appropriately, and so forth. If all of this is poor, then no savings will make it feel like a good choice. Of course talking to others who have the service that you're considering, is a great way to find out what a current customer thinks. The other tactic of course is to look at industry customer satisfaction survey results. I took a glance at this myself just the other day on the JD Power website. Their survey for 2009 indicates that Net10 received top scores and thus their customer service award for the year. You can take a look at the results yourself to examine how the service you use, or are thinking of using, fared with current customers.
