GPS on a Point and Shoot Camera

Posted on October 12, 2009 at 11:15 AM

For anyone who wants to be able to record the location of the photos they take, built-in GPS is a tremendously useful feature. There have been some DSLR models with this capability for a while now, but affordable consumer point and shoot cameras didn't have this option; until now.

The Samsung CL65 is the first point and shoot GPS digital camera that I'm aware of on the market. Priced just over $350 online, it gives users a 12.2 megapixel sensor, 5x optical zoom, dual image stabilization, and the ability to record 720p HD video at 30fps.

It has a 3.5" touchscreen and offers a variety of connectivity options that make it extremely easy to share what you record.  It has built-in Bluetooth 2.0, WiFi, and you can even stream your creations directly to HDTV. Of course, it's built-in GPS allows you to geotag you photos so that you don't forget what you captured or where it was, and can easily organize your photos
