Pocket Camcorder News

Posted on July 25, 2009 at 8:34 AM

Tiny but mighty pocket camcorders have become very popular in the past couple of years. Flip Mino has been a top option. They allow users to produce reasonable video and upload it to the internet very easily in a package that fits handily in the pocket. Even better, their price tag is easy on the wallet generally running well under $200 and a few even under $100.

Last year several models capable of recording HD video were introduced, the majority at 720p. Recently the number of models  capable of full 1080p recording increased however. Samsung announced their HMX-U10 which boasts 1080p video recording at 30 frames per second. It can also capture 10 megapixel still images and offers camcorder based software for editing. The HMX-U10 will be available in September.

Of course if you're willing to wait there may be other options as well. Rumors continue to grow that the next line of iPods will include a camera with video recording capabilities. Apple hasn't confirmed this and certainly any details about it's features are unknown at this time. The one advantage of course is owning a device that provides music, games, and camera/camcorder functions all-in-one
